PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
A Solution Engineer (SE), also known as a Presales Representative, is an active participant in
the application lifecycle management software sales cycle at SAP as a member of the SAP
Virtual Account Team - specifically the SAP QRM - Quality & Risk Management Account team.
Responsibilities of a Solution Engineer include active participation in any of the following: site
survey, strategy sessions, value based product presentations or demonstrations, SAP partner
Mentoring and training, and after sale transition to consulting services.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Strong understanding of the Application Lifecycle Management Solution, specifically Functional
and Performance Testing Solution, Business Process Modeling or Application monitoring.
Willingness and ability to acquire deep SAP knowledge in addition to the ability to learn new
products which are getting added to the SAP QRM Platform. Candidates with knowledge in the
HP Testing Products, CA Wily Monitoring Solutions, IDS Scheer Business Process
Management Solution or SAP Solution manager are preferable.
Ability to demonstrate the value of the solution (not just demonstrate the functionality), and the
ability to build a strong working relationship with both the prospect, SAP Partners and the SAP
Virtual Account Team.
Work with Partners, educate and guide them through the sales support in multiple countries with
different languages for products in the QRM Platform. Reviews and Certifications of those
partners will be required in the future.
Can communicate the business requirements to project/implementation teams after completion
of sale to ensure a smooth transition from presales to implementation stages, warranting a
continuous degree of customer satisfaction.
Ability to grow into the role of Solution Captain (lead SE on the Virtual Account Team) when
working with Partners and other parts of the SAP Sales Organizations.
Strong desire to work in a sales organization to provide sales support to Account Executives as
a product expert.
Possess strong sense of teamwork, integrity, self motivation, positive attitude, and works to
solve problems
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
ITIL Certified is beneficial
WORK EXPERIENCE
5+ years of Presales experience
3+ years experience working in the Testing or Process Modeling or Application Monitoring area
participating in sales related activities (i.e. sales support, presentation, product demonstration,
request for proposal, end user training).
